Coroner identifies Gilbert man killed in accident near Lexington

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the man who died in a single vehicle accident that occurred on Sunday, November 17, 2019 near Lexington. The accident happened within sight of the Lexington town limits at the intersection of U.S. Highway 378 and West Main Street. Fisher said the crash happened at approximately 8:15 p.m.

According to Coroner Fisher, Charles Christopher Gossett, 32, of Gilbert was transported to a hospital from the scene. He was pronounced dead at that medical facility due to the injuries he sustained in the crash.

According to the coroner, Gossett was traveling eastbound on U.S. Hwy 378 when his vehicle left the roadway and collided with a utility pole. Coroner Fisher’s team determined he was not wearing a seat belt when the incident occurred.

The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
