Lexington citizen presented Challenge Coin by Police Department for her assistance during suspect’s

Lexington, SC – Recently, Major Matt Davis and PFC. Mariah Tomaino met with Erin MacDonald to present her with a LPD Challenge Coin for her assistance during a recent incident.

On Sunday evening, November 3, 2019, PFC. Tomaino was following up on a shoplifting investigation with a subject that had just taken items from a business on West Main Street. A prolonged foot chase began with PFC. Tomaino chasing the subject alone with officers responding from other areas in town to assist her.

Erin MacDonald, a citizen of the area, seeing this foot chase as she was stopped at a traffic light, asked PFC. Tomaino if she needed help. She then jumped out of her vehicle and pursued the subject into the nearby by woods where officers arrested him a short time later. He was charged with Shoplifting, Fail to Obey Police and Resisting Arrest.

Selfless actions by citizens like Erin MacDonald are an example of the support Lexington police officers see from the Town of Lexington, SC and the surrounding community every day. The department presented the coin to let the citizens know their continued support is appreciated.
