Lexington PD's Fill The MRAP for Toys for Tots offers lots of chance to give

Lexington, S.C. – The men and women of The Lexington Police Department would like to let the people who live in the Town of Lexington and its surrounding community know that the annual Toys for Tots “Fill the MRAP” campaign will begin on Thursday, November 21, 2019. It will continue through Monday, December 16, 2019. Multiple donation events are scheduled at the Town of Lexington's Municipal Complex, the Icehouse Amphitheater, Kmart, Target, Walmart, Mellow Mushroom and Learning Express.

As in years past, the objective for this year’s Toys for Tots campaign will be to fill the Lexington Police Department's Emergency Services Team (E.S.T.) MRAP vehicle with toy donations. Unless needed elsewhere, the E.S.T. MRAP vehicle will be at each planned donation event listed.

The Toys for Tots “Fill the MRAP” schedule includes events on the following days and times:

Thursday, November 21 Bountiful Harvest 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Monday, November 25 Learning Express 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday, November 26 Learning Express 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Monday, December 2 Walmart 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, December 3 Target 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, December 4 Kmart 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, December 5 Target 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Thursday, December 5 Christmas Craft Fair 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Friday, December 6 Kmart 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Monday, December 9 Walmart 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, December 10 Target 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, December 11 Mellow Mushroom 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Thursday, December 12 Walmart 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The Lexington Police Department is excited about having a new partnership with Learning Express this year. Through the month of November, each customer who makes a monetary donation to Toys for Tots at the store will receive a “Comeback Coupon” for 25% off one item to be used in January. Learning Express will also be matching monetary donations with a donation of retail toys to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.

Also, during the Toys for Tots “Fill the MRAP” events at Learning Express on November 25 and 26, 2019, those who are interested in purchasing a toy to donate will be given a 25% discount on that toy purchase.

Along with store collection events, the Lexington Police Department has several other events to consider attending and more information will be released as these events approach.

On Thursday, November 21, 2019, the Lexington Police Department will kick off the Toys for Tots “Fill the MRAP” collection events during the Bountiful Harvest event which will be held at the Town of Lexington Municipal Complex. This event will begin at 11:00 a.m. and end at 8:00 p.m. and donations can be made throughout the day. You can enjoy a complimentary meal from Catch Seafood which will be provided by Serve & Connect and the Lexington Police Department at this event. On Thursday, December 5, 2019, the Lexington Police Department will be at the Icehouse Amphitheater, which is located at 107 West Main Street in Lexington. This is during the Christmas Craft Fair. Officers will be taking Toys for Tots donations at this event.

On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, the Lexington Police Department will be at Mellow Mushroom, which is located at 5364 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington. They will be there from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. for a night of fun, food, music and giveaways.

Additionally, toy donations will be accepted at the Lexington Police Department during normal business hours until Monday, December 16, 2019. The Lexington Police Department is located at 111 Maiden Lane in Lexington.

Cash and check donations made during campaign will be used for shopping sprees with Chief Terrence Green to purchase additional toys.

This year, Morningstar Storage is providing a unit that will be used for toy storage. That business is also a collection location. Toys can be dropped off during normal business hours there too.

For families in need, please remember that December 1, 2019, is the last day to submit a request for toys. Please visit the Columbia, South Carolina Toys for Tots website for information and the application.
