Sheriff’s deputies looking for a fugitive last seen near the Gilbert / Summit area of the county

Gilbert, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County sheriff’s deputies began a manhunt recently for a fugitive wanted in connection with a burglary. They searched in the Gilbert / Summit area of Lexington County. They say the man they sought is believed to have broken into a Lexington County business. Deputies actively searched for several hours before calling off their hunt in the last vicinity the man was believed to have been in.

The department has said they were looking for Tyrese Deshawn Johnson, 20, who is a black male. He was last seen wearing a green jacket and jeans. The last area he was sighted in was near Sandpit and Dixie Road just east of the two small towns. As of Friday morning, the department’s website did not list him as booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. Hopefully, they will provide a photo or further description later.

Deputies say that if you know or have seen Johnson, do not attempt to approach him. Call 911. If you know of his whereabouts, contact CRIME STOPPERS at 1-888-CRIME SC. You can also make tips through their website at midlandscrimestoppers.com. Just go to the Submit a Tip tab.
