Swansea, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the two men that died Tuesday in a vehicle collision near Swansea. According to Fisher, the accident occurred in the 1700 block of Savannah Highway (U.S. Hwy 321) near the Orangeburg County line at approximately 7:30 a.m.
According to Coroner Fisher, Mr. Ronald C. Bolin, 71, and Mr. James F. Gleaton, 73, both of Neeses, were pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision. Bolin and Gleaton were travelling in the same vehicle, driven by Bolin, when an oncoming vehicle crossed the center line. They were struck head-on by that vehicle. Both Bolin and Gleaton were wearing seat belts when the collision occurred. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to an area hospital; the condition of that individual is unknown at this time.
The SCHP is investigating the accident.
