Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – Austin Cotrell, 18, of the Gaston area had his bond revoked this week for crimes he committed in August. Cotrell was taken into custody Tuesday, December 3, 2019 after being booked by Gaston police officers last summer.
When Major Stephen Watkins and other officers of the Gaston Department investigated Cotrell in August, they turned up multiple stolen cars. They also happened upon various types of illegal drugs, cash, an ATV, and a gun. Cottrell was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center on these crimes and several traffic charges then. He later bonded out.
Cotrell was arrested again this week after his bond was revoked. This could have been done for a number of reasons.
Major Watkins said that Cottrell had been a problem in that community before and after he was arrested in August. “If he is bonded out of jail again, I feel like we will probably have to deal with him soon,” Watkins said.
