East bound I-20 a mess near the 53 mm due to disabled truck early Friday
Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – A disabled tractor trailer truck has caused a major tie-up early Friday near the 53 mile-marker of I-20 eastbound. Apparently, a tractor trailer had an issue that caused firefighters and law enforcement to completely close the interstate at one point. It isn’t yet known if it was involved in a collision.
Just before 6:30 a.m., troopers had a heavy wrecker enroute to move the truck. They also have one lane moving slowly. Prudent commuters should seek an alternate route. There were first responders all over that area and it was pouring rain steadily. The fire service left just after 7:00 a.m. but state troopers are still there trying to sort out the mess.
For the safety of yourself and the emergency workers, if you are on the interstate, significantly reduce speeds, increase your following distance, and use extreme caution.
