Lexington County Coroner identifies victim of shooting

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the name of the young man that was shot and died Friday night at a Christmas gathering that was being held at a Lexington business. According to Coroner Fisher, Wesley J. Warren-Camp, 26, of Lexington was pronounced dead at the scene due to a gunshot wound to the upper body.

According to law enforcement representatives, one other person was transported from the scene to a local hospital where he was admitted with injuries. They have not said this individual was the suspected shooter however, they did say only two people were involved in the altercation. It is common practice for officers to delay the arrest of injured suspects until they are healthy enough to be jailed.

Coroner Fisher has sent Warren-Camp's body to MUSC for an autopsy. Those results may take several days. The Lexington Police Department and SLED are investigating.
