Man in jail after leading troopers on pursuit Thursday  morning

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – A man is in jail after leading troopers from the SC Highway Patrol on a pursuit early Thursday that started on Platt Springs Road and ended in Lexington. Lance Corporal Sonny Collins of the SCHP said that the man faces multiple traffic and drug changes.

According to Collins, a trooper was on patrol Thursday when he attempted to stop Christopher L. Frick, 27, for simply speeding. When the trooper activated the lights and siren on his patrol car, instead of pulling over, Frick sped up, initiating the pursuit. Officers from several other agencies joined in as Frick led them toward Lexington before turning onto Industrial Drive. At some point, he made contact with another vehicle before the troopers were able to get him to stop. Once the chase was over, he was immediately taken into custody. No one in the vehicle Frick hit was injured.

Collins said that Frick has been booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. He has been charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Driving Under the Influence, Driving Under Suspension, Failure to Stop for a Blue Light, Hit and Run, and a long list of charges involving narcotics. He will soon face a judge at a bond hearing.
