Lexington County’s own Congressman Joe Wilson comments on Fort Jackson expansion

Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-2), a resident of Springdale in Lexington County and long serving representative of the area’s residents, released a statement regarding Fort Jackson’s expansion. In that release, Wilson was excited to explain what is happening at the fort located in central South Carolina.

Wilson said, “I am grateful for the relocation of the Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Advanced Individual Training Courses to Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C., which has been recognized as one the ‘Most Military Friendly Communities in America.This addition will greatly benefit the local economy, providing nearly $5 million in the initial establishment and $3.5 million annually. I am also thankful for the leadership of Commanding General Milford Beagle and for the commitment of our service men and women training at Fort Jackson.”
