Lexington, S.C. — Lexington County School District One will hold a two-week-long early registration period for children entering Lexington District One for the first time in the 2020–2021 school year as either a 4-year-old kindergartner, 5-year-old kindergartner or first-grader.
From Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, through Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, parents can go to the elementary school in their attendance area to register their child from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Schools will offer longer hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 6 only.
To determine your child’s school, go to our website at lexington1.net, hover over the “Schools” tab, choose the “School Locator” link and fill out your information.
Please note that the new lines from Gilbert Elementary School and Centerville Elementary School have not been determined yet. If you are zoned for Gilbert Primary School now, please register there. The district will let you know whether your child will go to Gilbert Elementary or Centerville Elementary after it finalizes the attendance zones.
To enroll your child, bring your child’s birth certificate, a completed South Carolina Certificate of Immunization and proof of residency.
For proof of residency, bring a current electric bill/statement or other utility bill showing your name and home address within the district, and your South Carolina driver’s license or other state or federal photograph identification.
If you are unable to produce any of the documents listed above, please contact the school or the Office of Student Services at 803-821-1029 to discuss alternative documentation that may be acceptable.
4-year-old kindergarten program
If your child will be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2020, your child may be eligible for a 4-year-old kindergarten program. You must apply for the program at the primary or elementary school in your attendance zone.
5-year-old kindergarten program
If your child will be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2020, your child is eligible for 5-year-old kindergarten. You must register your child at the elementary school in your attendance zone, even if your child currently attends a 4-year-old kindergarten program in another location.
First grade
If your child will be 6 years old by Sept. 1, 2020, your child is eligible for first grade.
If your child currently attends a 5-year-old kindergarten program in Lexington District One, you do not need to enroll your child for first grade. The district does this automatically for you.
If, however, your child currently attends a private 5-year-old kindergarten program, you must register your child at the elementary school in your attendance zone.
