Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - Chesnee Mattress, one of five suspects charged in the murder of a Gaston woman in 2017, was sentenced by a Lexington County jury this week following her trial. This according to 11th Circuit Solicitor Rick Hubbard. The victim, Annette Riley, was killed after Mattress fired multiple gunshots at the scene of the crime. Mattress was sentenced to 35 years in prison. This is a no-parole offense.
The four other suspects charged were Amaria Regina Hamm, Ashley Danielle Riley, Treshawn Alexander and Monyell Deshea Fulton. At the time of the crime, Sheriff Jay Koon said that the department’s investigators believed that Riley was targeted by the group. She was killed off State Pond Road, a short road off Hwy. 321 just north of Gaston.
No motive for the crime was released; however, drugs were found at the scene and on some of the other suspects who were taken into custody.
