Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – If the Town of Lexington wants to build anticipation over the reopening of Gibson Pond Park with a full pond, not just a creek, they’re doing a great job. Recently, they released a conceptual drawing of what the new dam will look like and it’s much more than what was there before the floods washed it away in 2015.
The drawing shows the dam with a pedestrian walkway over it. At two points there are overlooks where you can safely stop and take in the beautiful view. It’s being built for safety, but also has features that adds to the already gorgeous park.
The Town of Lexington says you can expect the project to be completed toward the end of this year. Follow the Town of Lexington on social media for updates on when the park will reopen.
