West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – A home in the 1600 block of B Avenue was damaged by fire Tuesday afternoon. The fire reported was around 3:11 p.m. and was under control moments after the first fire crews arrived.
According to Operations Chief Marquis Solomon of the West Columbia Fire Department, firefighters arrived quickly and made an aggressive interior attack. They found fire in two bedrooms in the rear of the home and quickly put that out.
For a short period, the homeowners were concerned about a cat and a dog they couldn’t locate, their household pets. These were eventually found to be safe and returned to their owners.
West Columbia firefighters were assisted with the fire by crews from Lexington County and the City of Cayce. Chief Solomon said that the home was uninhabitable after the fire, but the damage appeared to be minor in other parts of the home.
