Cayce Street closed Wednesday because of gas leak

Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – Officers and firefighters from the Cayce Department of Public Safety had to close Northland Drive from Orchard to Vine Wednesday due to a gas leak. They used fire trucks and police cars to keep people from travelling throughout the area during the period that gas was coming from the broken pipe.

City Public Safety Officials asked that people who lived in that area shelter in place during the active leak. This is one step less than a full evacuation where people are simply asked to stay inside and be wary of using open flames.

Dominion Energy, the owner of the line, was on the scene quickly working to repair the break. Cayce officials said that the street was open again at 2:30 p.m.
