Four deputies graduate from basic certification course Friday

Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon and Chief Deputy Shockley were on hand as four new deputies graduated from the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy’s Basic Law Enforcement training program. Their graduation was held on Friday February 7, 2020. Although this is a huge milestone in their chosen field, they’ve only just begun!

Terry Davis, RaQway Ellis, Gabriel Mulkey and Michael Murphy will now return to the department where they will work with a field training officer to learn the established policies and procedures of the LCSD. No matter how long their careers might be, training and learning will be a daily part of their routine.

These four men have now joined a brotherhood of thousands across the world who are a family. They will be doing a dangerous job that most do for the passion and love of serving. If you happen to see them, a word of thanks will go a long way.
