St. Andrews, SC (Paul Kirby) – Investigators are looking into what has been reported as an armed robbery early Monday morning. Their focus is on a crime scene at the Motel 6 in the 1700 block of Burning Tree Drive at the I-26 – St. Andrews Road interchange. This is just inside Lexington County.
Detectives are in the very early stages of this investigation. Apparently, the crime occurred sometime between midnight and 3:30 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2020. Law enforcement officers have not even said if the victim was an employee or a guest of the business that was the target.
The detectives do have good descriptions of two pickup trucks they believe were involved. Those have been released to other law enforcement agencies; however, deputies will only release these to the public if it’s determined that will help, not hinder their investigation.
Investigators say they are currently looking for a black and a Hispanic male. It is believed these men are armed with a handgun and a sawed-off shotgun. They should be considered armed and very dangerous. If encountered, they should not be approached.
