Hollow Creek, SC (Paul Kirby) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) announced late last week that there would be a temporary road closure of Devils Backbone Road. This will be done because they will be performing some work on the US Highway 378 end where those two roads intersect in Lexington County.
A release from the SCDOT said the road closure is necessary for a realignment and a construction project to improve safety at that key intersection. Traffic along Hwy. 378 has increased over the years, making the area dangerous to motorists trying to turn on and off Devils Backbone.
The closure will begin February 18, 2020 and is expected to last until May 18, 2020. This is barring delays due to weather or other unforeseen factors.
Motorists will be detoured along Ridge Road and Cedar Grove Road throughout the duration of this closure. Everything will be well marked. Drivers are asked to please use caution along the detour routes, especially if they are not completely familiar with those roads.
