South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – Jovanny Cabrera has been named the South Congaree Business Association’s Congaree Elementary School’s Most Improved Student of the Month for January of 2020. He is an 11 year old who’s in the 5th grade. He has attended Congaree Elementary since he was in the 2nd grade and next year, he will move up to Fulmer Middle School where he already has a brother attending.
As the Most Improved Student of the Month, Jovanny received a gift and a meal furnished by Bobby Jeffcoat of Jeffcoat’s Garage. Jovanny chose Fortnight action figures as his gift and asked that his meal be chicken wings from Zaxby’s. He was delighted when he was presented with his meal and gift by Jeffcoat and the school’s SRO, Detective Washington from the South Congaree Police Department. Jeffcoat stayed to eat lunch with Jovanny as did SRO Washington.
Jovanny lives in the South Congaree/Pine Ridge area with his mom and dad. He has two brothers and one sister in his family. When he’s not in school, he likes to play the Fortnight video game and jump on the family’s trampoline with his younger brother.
Jovanny has really excelled in his schoolwork this year. He has improved one full grade level in reading since school started, according to the school’s staff. Jovanny says that his 14 year old brother has been helping him study and that’s made a difference. He enjoys seeing his friends at school daily and his favorite subject is math.
Each month, a different business that is a member of the South Congaree Business Association will honor a student that’s made significant improvement in their studies at school. Each winner will be given a toy of their choice and a meal from their favorite restaurant. The school’s staff is making the decision as to which students should be recognized for their hard work to improve scholastically.
