Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Town of Lexington has released the preliminary drawings of the Pavilion at the Icehouse Amphitheater that is expected to be constructed this year. It will sit in an spot that is to the left of the main stage. Still a bit confused? Look at the drawings and think of the Pavilion situated this way. It is slated to be built along South Church Street near Maiden Lane and across that entrance to the Icehouse and downhill from Alodia's Cucina Italiana.
The Pavilion will be home to the popular summer Market and lots of other events! It will be large enough for food and beer vendors and lots of other good and exciting stuff you’ve come to expect at Icehouse events.
This will be an open-air pavilion with big overhead fans for the summer and outdoor heaters for the winter! Just looking at the drawings makes it clear that a great deal of thought has been put into its design so that it matches the already esthetically pleasing Icehouse Amphitheater that has been open several years. A quick look brings strolling through downtown Charleston into mind. Other upgrades that will soon be installed include more ladies’ restrooms and climate control for the ones that are there now.
Construction should begin soon if the rain will ever stop. Hopefully by next winter, the pavilion will be a regular part of multitude of events held at the Icehouse Amphitheater.
