Sharpe’s Hill, SC (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home was heavily damaged by fire in the 2200 block of Longs Spires Road between Gaston and Sharpe’s Hill Saturday. The call was dispatched about 12 noon and when the first fire equipment arrived, they found smoke coming from the home.
First arriving firefighters began advancing their hose lines while others established a water supply to keep the firefighters supplied as they worked. They advanced toward the seat of the fire and eventually were able to knock it down. More personnel were arriving in groups on their trucks and they were able to quickly bring the fire under control. Ventilation was set up and other firefighters moved into a salvage and overhaul mode.
Lexington County EMS was on the scene during the entire fire to ensure the safety of county employees and civilians. The sheriff’s department helped with traffic control and keeping bystanders back. The utility company was also requested to disconnect the electricity, and this, plus the damage fore the fire, made the home uninhabitable.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
