Fairview, SC (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home was heavily damaged by fire on Rhoda Rish Rd. Saturday morning. The fire was reported shortly before noon.
The home was located down a long drive that limited access for fire equipment. A water supply line was stretched in so that tanker trucks could supply the firefighting crews with water.
According to the first crews to arrive, fire and smoke was showing. They estimated that approximately 20 percent of the home was involved. As more teams arrived, they entered the home and attacked the flames. In a short time, they had the fire knocked down. Neighbors at the fire said there may have been a resident still in the home. That hasn’t been confirmed by Lexington County.
Once the fire was marked under control, the county‘s battalion chief began releasing some of the tanker trucks to return to their stations. Fire crews stayed on the scene for some time checking for lingering hotspots and cleaning up.
The firefighters were assisted by personnel from Lexington County’s EMS. Deputies were also there to help.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
