Serious crash with entrapment closes Augusta Road at Cedar Crest Monday

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – A serious crash with entrapment closed Augusta Road at Cedar Crest for a short while Monday while firefighters worked to free the person from the twisted metal of the vehicle and a bass boat. The accident, that happened around 8:00 a.m., blocked the entire intersection for a short time but Lexington police officers quickly got one lane each way moving. Lexington police officers quickly posted photos of the accident on their social media pages to show the seriousness of the situation.

Personnel from Lexington County EMS treated at least one seriously injured patient on scene. That person was eventually transported to the Trauma Center at Prisma’s Palmetto Richland’s campus.

Lexington PD is investigating the cause of the crash. It appeared from the photos that were posted by LPD that a vehicle pulling a boat was struck from behind by a car.

Traffic is still moving slowly in that area at 9:00 a.m. Please find an alternate route if at all possible.
