Cayce. SC (Paul Kirby) – A single vehicle left the roadway on the 12th Street Extension near Amazon early Sunday morning. That vehicle struck a tree before sliding up it and coming to a stop at an odd angle. Two people were trapped in the wreckage. Firefighters had to stabilize the automobile before they could begin their work to free the people still in the car.

Firefighters and personnel from Lexington County's EMS worked to free both patients from the crumpled wreck before they could be transported to Prisma's Palmetto Richland's Trauma Center. The extrication took about 20 minutes.

A spokesman for the SCHP said an investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing. It is believed that alcohol may have played a part in the collision.
