Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) - During the Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce Gala and Awards banquet that was held recently, the Irmo Police Department’s Community Foundation (IPDCF) was recognized as the 2019 Non-Profit of the Year. On their social media page, they said, “This prestigious award could not have been possible if not for the support of our community and the partnership of local businesses and citizen-volunteers. We are humbled to have been recognized with such an honor!”
This award is presented by the chamber and recognizes a non-profit organization (a 501C3) that has contributed to the Greater Irmo community through service and education. Helping to meet the basic needs of the local citizens also carries a great deal of influence when considering the winners of this annual award.
Each year, the IPDCF serves in many ways. One of the projects that they do will absolutely touch your heart. It’s their Shop With a Cop Seniors project. Although the Irmo police officers and volunteers do a traditional Shop With a Cop with underprivileged children, they also have one that’s focused on senior citizens. The officers and volunteers buy food and other essentials at a local store and these important items are donated to deserving seniors in their community.
Congratulation to the members of the IPDCF for winning this award. Most importantly, thanks for your assistance to the people of the Irmo area.
