Lexington, SC, - Mission Lexington is continuing to monitor the latest developments regarding COVID-19. The health and safety of their clients, staff and volunteers remains their number one priority.
At this time, they will be implementing the following policies until further notice:
General Practices: All staff and volunteers interacting with the public will be required to wear gloves. They will continue to wipe down handles, doorknobs, shopping carts and high-traffic areas multiple times throughout the day, and in the evening.
1. Volunteers: If you have a compromised immune system, flu-like symptoms, or feel unsure, please stay home. However, please let the staff know if you do not plan to volunteer your shift by emailing Michele at Michele@missionlexingtonsc.org or calling (803)957-2499.
2. Social Services Status: Closed until further notice. You may still receive food through the food pantry
3. Food Pantry: If you are currently on our Food For Living Program you may still receive your monthly food at the back door. they ask that you remain in your car; an attendant will come to your car for you to receive services. They are only distributing pre-packed food. You will not “shop” their food pantry until further notice. Their volunteers and staff are gloved and will bring your food to your car.
If you are in need of emergency food, the procedure is the same. Drive to the back of the food pantry and you will be served in your car. They will need to see your driver’s license.
4. Thrift Store: They will be open today from 9AM-4PM, closing early for additional cleaning of the store. They will also be wiping down carts and signing for any credit card purchases so as to decrease activity on our machines. The hours of the store will fluctuate from day to day. If you are volunteering they will keep you updated via email.
5. Donation Center: All donations will be collected outside of the building and will be held in containers for a minimum of 72 hours before any sorting takes place.
6. They have canceled all pick-ups until further notice.
7. Pray! The most important thing that we can do is lean into our faith at this crucial time, but the Bible teaches us:
"Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done." Phillipians 4:6. This is a great verse to meditate on during these uncertain times. Pray for protection, for the sick, our government leaders and opportunities to love your neighbor.
Again, they want their families to know that given this is a fluid matter, they will continue to meet and discuss the best ways that they can keep our volunteers, staff and neighbors safe. They support all family decisions and stand behind any decision that you make for your family. If you become one of those in need, please reach out. You are our family.
