Lexington Three releases educational and feeding plan during shutdown period

Batesburg-Leesville, SC – Since Governor Henry McMaster announced that all schools in South Carolina will be closed through March 31st in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, otherwise known as the coronavirus, all Lexington County school districts have been making and implementing plans for that closed period. Lexington County School District Three is no exception. As other districts have, Lexington Three has cancelled all extracurricular activities, field trips, athletic practices, athletic games and events scheduled at their Fine Arts Center. These restrictions will remain in effect through March 31st.

As Lexington County School District Three works through the logistics of this mandatory shutdown, administrators are working hard to properly disseminate information to all the district’s stakeholders. In an e-mail release, they said, “As we face this unprecedented worldwide health issue, there are many questions yet to be answered. The situation is very fluid and district officials are working closely with DHEC and the State Department of Education to monitor developments and provide staff, students, and families with updated information on a regular basis.”

In addition to monitoring email, the district’s social media pages, and other school communication methods, the district encourages Lexington Three students, staff, parents and guardians to visit the district’s website (www.lex3.org) and navigate to the page they have dedicated to the Coronavirus situation. That page can be found by clicking on the “COVID-19 Shutdown Information” button at the top, right side of the homepage. There you will find academic lesson plans, health resources from DHEC and the CDC, archived news releases and other pertinent information.

ACADEMIC LEARNING PLANS

Lexington County School District Three is providing academic resources for students and families to utilize during the extended closing. All resources can be found by visiting the district’s website (www.lex3.org) and navigating to the page they have dedicated to the coronavirus situation. That page can be found by clicking on the “COVID-19 Shutdown Information” button at the top, right side of the homepage.

All learning resources will be updated weekly on Monday by 4 p.m. until schools are reopened. Resources are organized by school. Once you access the school for your student, you can then click on the specific grade or subject area to access assignments. In the event that you are unable to access the district webpage to get resources for your child, you may email elearning@lex3.org or call 803-532-8004 to request that academic resources be sent to your child. You will be required to leave a message and when doing so, please include your child’s name, school, and grade level so that the district’s staff can provide the appropriate learning resources.

Lexington Three will disperse meals to children via a bus route with designated stops and through a drive-through line at Batesburg-Leesville Elementary School.
