Motorcyclist killed in I-20 collision Sunday afternoon

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – A motorcyclist that was thrown from his bike on I-20 near the 53 mm westbound has died according to the SCHP. This is close to the Longs Pond Road overpass. The accident was reported to Lexington County just before 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2020.

Paramedics and firefighters from Lexington County EMS and the fire service responded to render aid to the downed biker. They tried to stabilize the victim on scene before quickly transporting him.

According to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, Richard Z. McCormick, 30, of Lexington was transported to a local medical center. He passed away a short time later at the hospital from his injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The SCHP is investigating the crash.
