Lexington One modifying the food program starting Friday

Lexington, SC - Lexington County School District One is making some modifications to their food program during the time that students remain at home because of The COVID-19 coronovairus. On Friday, April 3, 2020, parents/guardians taking advantage of Lexington County School District One’s free food program for children will pick up that day’s lunch as well as breakfast and lunch intended for Monday, April 6, and Tuesday, April 7.

Since the district will close for spring break, there will be no meal program for the rest of the week. The program will resume on Tuesday, April 14, with that day’s lunch and the next day’s breakfast.

Beginning Wednesday, April 15, the district’s feeding program will become a two day a week program (Mondays and Wednesdays).

  • On Wednesdays, the district provides Wednesday’s lunch and breakfast and lunch for the following Thursday and Friday.

  • On Mondays, the district provides Monday’s lunch, breakfast and lunch for Tuesday, and breakfast for Wednesday.

As a reminder, the program offers free food for children 18 years old and younger, as well as students with disabilities up to age 21.

Parents can pick up the meals, at any one of the seven schools designated as “grab and go” areas (Carolina Springs Middle, Forts Pond Elementary, Gilbert Primary, Oak Grove Elementary, Red Bank Elementary, Rosenwald Community Learning Center, White Knoll Elementary) or the areas designated as bus drop-offs. Check the list of bus drop-off points for times and locations here.

The parent/guardian can have the children in the car or, if they do not have the children, they will need to present some form of valid identification for each child.

The child’s school identification card, passport, government-issued identification card, or even a homework assignment with the child’s name and school on it will suffice. The parent/guardian will also need to bring a form of identification that proves their relationship to the child, such as an adoption decree, birth certificate, daycare record, religious record, or even a doctor, clinic or hospital record.
