Lexington town council member and friends invite everyone to Rise Up on Easter Sunday

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lexington Town Councilman Todd Carnes, along with some other friends and associates, are inviting people to Rise Up together during these uncertain times. Carnes, the former pastor of Radius, a fast growing and expanding church is a devout Christian. Carnes and many others across our state will all pray the Lord’s Prayer together at the same time Easter Sunday morning, right at sunrise.

Radius, like many other churches in the area, is still going strong with several virtual options for the faithful who can’t gather together because of the social distancing recommendations. Instead of us being physically together, Carnes is inviting you to join with other South Carolinians during RiseUpSC.

Carnes said via Facebook that RiseUpSC is a grassroots movement to bring a fresh, new unity to the Christian churches throughout our great state. It begins with a single, virtual event on Easter morning at Sunrise. Thousands will gather together as one church and recite the Lord’s prayer on their own front steps.

On the project’s website, Carnes said, “Just imagine the impact of millions of South Carolinians praying these words of Jesus together with one heart and one voice, asking God to be merciful to us in our time of need!” That post continued by asking that everyone take the opportunity to RiseUp to this great challenge!

RiseUpSC is a grassroots movement to bring a fresh, new unity to the Christian Church throughout this great state. According to Carnes, this begins with a single, virtual event on Easter morning at Sunrise which is occurring at 6:58 a.m. That’s when the faithful will collectively pray the Lord’s Prayer together.

You don’t have to do anything to join in but make your way outside and pray. You can even join others on a webpage that allows you to see other people praying by clicking a simple link here. (RiseUpSC).

The actual RiseUpSC page has more information on this opportunity that lets you leave a prayer request and other ways to stay in touch with fellow Christians and openly display your faith with others. That website can be found at RiseUpSC.com.
