Old house burns to the ground on Boggy Branch Court Thursday afternoon

Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – A single story house believed to be abandoned by firefighters, burned to the ground late Thursday afternoon on Boggy Branch Court off Happy Town Road. This is in an area between Gaston and Swansea close to the Cassidy Road intersection. When the first firefighters arrived, they reported the home was fully involved in fire.

More fire equipment began to arrive at the scene quickly, and a water supply was quickly established. As the house had already burned to the point that it was collapsing, firefighters just poured gallons of water on the remnants of the home until they had put the fire completely out.

No cause of the fire has been determined. Lexington County did not report any injuries as a result of the fire.
