Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – Yesterday, the work on I-20 once again changed due to the ongoing construction. According to the SCDOT, the eastbound lane between mile marker 54 and 60 began closing each night. These closures will be in effect until Friday, April 24, 2020, from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

All traffic traveling on eastbound I-20 will be directed into the through lane and will not have access to Exits 55 and 58. Also, the on ramps at Augusta Road/US-1 and South Lake Drive/SC-6 will be closed.

Exit 61 at Sunset Blvd. (US-378) will be open and drivers will also be able to enter I-20 there.

The construction company asks for your patience as this work continues. Please continue to watch for workers and directional signs in the area. Watch your speed in the construction zone as many accidents have occurred during the project and most were caused by inattentive drivers or drivers who have exceeded the posted speed limits. Speeding in a construction zone has higher fines than speeding in many other places.
