SC schools remaining closed throughout the rest of the school year

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - Just over a month ago, Governor Henry McMaster ordered that all South Carolina schools be closed. Today, he announced that schools would remain closed for the rest of the school year.

The South Carolina Department of Education has said that seniors’ last day will be Friday, May 15. The last day of school for children eLearning has not yet been decided or released. A great deal of decisions have to made about students turning in school owned property. What districts work out regarding that will be released at some time in the future.

In a letter to parents and students of Lexington County School District One, Superintendent Dr. Greg Little said, the District had hoped to be able to return to school this year. He continued by saying, "Please remember that these decisions are made to protect your children, our staff, and our families."
