Blowfish owners announce opening day of the 2020 season

Lexington, SC – The local owners of the Lexington County Blowfish, Vicki and Bill Shanahan, have some uplifting news for Lexington County and the Midlands. The Coastal Plain League has been monitoring the COVID-19 announcements of the federal, state, and local authorities in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia very closely. As a result of all the available information, it has been determined it is best to delay the League's 2020 season opener until July 1st.

Based on the fact that the league will be following all the current safety guidelines, the Blowfish will play its fifteenth season of summer collegiate baseball, and its sixth season in Lexington County, from the beginning of July until the middle of August. There will be 46 games played this year. Of those, 25 games will be played at the Lexington County Baseball Stadium.

In their communication, the Blowfish’s owners said the entire organization is looking forward to the day when they will be able to safely open the ballpark for their fans and play baseball, provide family fun and entertainment, in a safe and healthy environment. All their operations will be based on Governor McMaster’s orders, health officials, and local guidelines. In no way will they jeopardize the safety of their fans, players, coaches, staff, umpires and vendors.

Any questions or additional concerns you have can be answered by Vicki and Bill Shanahan themselves. They would be glad to hear from you. Bill’s mobile number is 251-654-4003. The Shanahans closed by saying that more information will be coming to everyone very soon. You can get up to date information on The Blowfish website at www.goblowfish.com where they are updating it every day!
