Springdale, SC (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County School District Two’s spokesperson Dawn Kujawa said Wednesday that the District bought land in the town of Springdale for, “Any long-range district plans they may have.” The property is on Platt Springs Road about .5 miles east of the intersection of Platt Springs and Wattling Roads. That intersection is when DHL shipping is located.

The property is across Platt Springs Road from the Carolina Buffett and other businesses in the strip center in the heart of Springdale. Springdale is a beautiful bedroom community of Columbia. It is close to the Columbia Airport and has a high quality of life. The property the District bought had a house on it that was recently moved.
According to Kujawa, the total tract equals 26.52 acres. The asking price was $1.5 million; however, the district offered $200,000 under asking and eventually paid $1.3 million. NAI Columbia listed the property.
Kujawa finished by saying in an e-mail that there are no immediate plans for the property. “We felt fortunate to be able to locate a parcel of this size in our attendance area, as tracts large enough for school districts to build on are very difficult to find.”
