Construction on I-20 continues with some exit or entrance ramp closings

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – As work on I-20 continues, there are still some periods when entrance and exit ramps will be closed during off-peak periods. The SCDOT tries to ensure that the contractor on this project creates as little inconveniences to motorists as possible while still moving forward with the work.

This week, the eastbound local lane between mile marker 54 and 60 will be closed during the night as this work continues. This took effect last night, Wednesday, May 6th, and will also take place on Thursday, May 7th. This work should end following the night of Friday, May 8th, 2020. The closures will start at 6:30 p.m. and the lane should be reopened by 6:00 a.m. the next morning.

All traffic traveling on eastbound I-20 will be directed into the through lane and will not have access to Exits 55 and 58. The on ramps at Augusta Road (US-1) and South Lake Drive (SC-6)will also be closed. Exit 61 at Sunset Boulevard (US-378) will be open and drivers will also be able to enter I-20 there.

Please be aware of these closures and adapt your travel plans accordingly.
