I-20 to have night closings again this week in Lexington area

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – The construction on I-20 in the Lexington area is continuing to cause lane closures during off hours. Several lanes will be closed at specific times this week.

Beginning tonight, Wednesday, May 13, 2020 and continuing through Thursday night into Friday morning, one lane travelling toward Florence will be closed.

The lane that is affected is the eastbound local lane between mile markers 54 and 60. The closures will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the lane will be reopened the following morning at 6:00 a.m. The next evening, Thursday, May 14th, 2020, the same lane closure will occur again.

All traffic traveling on I-20 eastbound toward Florence will be directed into the through lane and will not have access to Exits 55 and 58. The on ramps at Augusta Road (US-1) and South Lake Drive (SC-6) will also be closed. Exit 61 at Sunset Blvd.(US-378) will be open and drivers will also be able to enter I-20 there.

This is all a part of the construction process. The project is already significantly behind schedule and will continue to have an impact on traffic in this section of interstate in the coming months.
