Swansea, SC - Swansea High School Seniors celebrated their upcoming graduation, parading in their cars past teachers and staff cheering them on. Swansea teachers and staff, some of whom the Seniors have not seen since first grade, waved congratulatory signs, balloons and decorations, while a DJ pumped the tunes throughout the parking lot. SHS Mathematics teacher Deborah Britton raved, “I really enjoyed my time celebrating the seniors with the administration, faculty and staff. I loved being out of isolation and being able to dance!” This was an opportunity for seniors to celebrate their accomplishments during the COVID-19 quarantine, and allowed everyone to show their support safely.
Row upon row of Senior banners covered the front lawn of the school as students entered, who were then greeted by administration and staff with goody bags and a t-shirt. “It was great to see my co-workers and my students. It was much needed for an abnormal year,” said Bianca Bryant, SHS Biology teacher. Teachers cheered from afar and danced to the music as students proudly passed by in their decorated cars and trucks. SHS Chemistry teacher Melodie Sharpe reflected, “It was great to see the seniors on their last trip around the parking lot. I believe that it was great for them and for us.”
