South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – A small shed at a residence near South Congaree was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning. The fire that was dispatched around 1:20 a.m. was in the 100 block of Howitzer Circle off Princeton Road. Howitzer is between Edmund Highway and the railroad tracks.
Firefighters from Lexington County were dispatched to a structure fire. Before they arrived, they were advised that the fire involved a small shed. When the first crew pulled in, they reported the shed was fully involved in fire. At that point, many of the responding firefighters and equipment enroute were cleared to return to their stations. Several trucks were asked to proceed in and their crews either helped put the fire out or hauled water from a hydrant on Edmund Highway. The fire was completely out and the last personnel left the scene just before 3:00 a.m.
