Brookland United Methodist once again doing good works to help during pandemic
West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – The congregation of the Brookland United Methodist Church in West Columbia is having a clothes giveaway to help the less fortunate during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is happening today, Friday May 29, 2020. According to Joey Yandle, speaking on behalf of the church, everything will be completely FREE to the public!
Yandle said that the event will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will continue until 1:00 p.m. This will take place at the church located at 541 Meeting Street in West Columbia. Everyone is directed to enter on the covered parking side of the church. There will be precautionary measures in effect to prevent the spread of the virus.
Yandle said that the church has gathered a variety of items including clothing, shoes, pocketbooks, blankets, hats, and other accessories. They are hoping that people who are in need will come and browse through the items. If they find something they can use, it will be given to them at no cost.
Although the church has gathered many items, they ask you take only what you will use. Clothing is not unlimited, and when they run out of items to giveaway, they will begin collecting again for a future event.
According to Yandle, the church will also be accepting donations of these type items from anyone who has something on hand they aren’t using. If someone feels led to make a monetary donation, they can also do that at today’s event. Checks should be made payable to Brookland United Methodist Church. Any donations accepted will be used to support the appropriate ministries of the church.
