West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – Deputies with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are in the initial stages of an investigation of a reported armed robbery of a business Friday morning. This crime was reported around 5:00 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2020 and brought deputies from across the county to the scene.
According to witnesses at the business that was held up, a black male and a white female, both estimated to be in their 20s, entered the D&D Country Cooking dinner at 1824 Platt Springs Road just outside the City of West Columbia. They presented a brown paper sack and indicated that it contained a weapon. After the holdup, the pair are believed to have fled in a gray Honda Pilot, a small SUV model. That vehicle, believed to have a North Carolina license tag, was reported stolen as well.
An immediate call to other agencies in surrounding areas was made so that other law enforcement agencies could be on the lookout for the SUV.
Deputies are on the scene and the business is not accessible currently. Since this just occurred, no other information has been released.
