Springdale police arrest man for discharging a handgun at Dollar General

Springdale, SC (Paul Kirby) – Officers with the Town of Springdale Police Department have taken a 19-year-old man into custody after an investigation into a shooting that occurred Wednesday night. They received a call reporting this incident at the Dollar General at approximately 8:00 p.m.

According to police, Christopher Lee Etheridge fired a gun while at the store. The Dollar General is located at 922 Platt Springs Road and is within a block of the department’s headquarters and the town hall. The details of his motivation to do this have not been released by the department.

Etheridge has been charged with unlawful carry of a pistol, malicious injury to property and discharging a firearm in the town limits. Police say that there is still an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident and there are additional charges pending.

Etheridge was booked into the Lexington Detention Center after his arrest. As of Friday May 29, 2020, he was not still being held there according to the LCSD’s website inmate search feature.
