County Election Commission announces polling locations for House 88 runoff
Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – Mary Brack, director of the Lexington County Registration and Election office said Wednesday that the polling places for next Tuesday’s runoff between Mike Sturkie and R.J. May for the SC House District 88 seat will be the exact same places that people voted at during the primary on June 9th. This runoff is only for people who live in House District 88.
The County of Lexington’s website has a very helpful map that you can use to find your polling place even if you did not vote on June the 9th. It can be found on the internet at https://lex-co.sc.gov/departments/registration-and-elections. Scroll down to the little map and click it. At that page, you can enter your address and it will give you the exact location of your polling place. It’s really very easy.

Yes, even if you didn’t vote in the June 9th Primary Election, you can vote in the runoff as long as you live in House District 88. Your house district should be at the bottom of your blue Voter Registration card.
This runoff is very important because there is no Democrat running for the seat. When Mac Toole decided to step back and not run again, five people threw their hats in the ring and ran. The primary whittled that down to just two. Whoever wins on June 23rd is the presumptive winner. The winner of this race will be sworn in early in 2021. They will serve a two-year term before having to run again.
Both men that are in the runoff, Mike Sturkie and R.J. May, have been featured in stories in the Lexington Ledger. If you would like to read those stories, Google The Lexington Ledger, House District 88, and then add their names. That should bring up the articles.
No matter what, be informed and vote. It may be a hassle to have to go to the polls again but it’s very important. The polls will be open on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Do what’s right and cast your informed vote. This is a link to the House 88 polling places LINK.
