Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) A car veered off Charleston Highway Monday afternoon literally creating its own drive-thru at a McDonald’s on Charleston Highway. This occurred at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2020. The collision occurred at the restaurant in the 2900 block of Charleston Highway near I-26.

According to First Sergeant Evan Antley of the Cayce Department of Public Safety, a red Mercury was traveling south on Charleston Hwy. when a black van crossed the roadway and struck it in the side. The Mercury left the right side of the roadway and struck the business going through the glass in the front of the restaurant.

Antley said there were no diners in that part of the restaurant at the time of the collision. Multiple patients were transported from the scene but have since been released from the hospital after being evaluated with no injuries.
