Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lane closures on I-20 have been in place again as a necessary part of the I-20 widening construction project near the town of Lexington. They will continue through the night of Friday, July 17, 2020.
Each night, the eastbound local lane, or the far-right lane headed toward Columbia between mile marker 54 and 60 will close from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the next morning. This is the lane that you would use to exit I-20 at any of the Lexington exits in that area of I-20. All traffic traveling on I-20 east toward Columbia and Florence will be directed into the through lane and will not have access to Exit 55 at South Lake Drive (Hwy 6) or Exit 58 at August Road (Hwy 1). The on ramps at both of those roads will also be inaccessible. The Sunset Boulevard exit (Hwy 378) will be open and drivers will also be able to enter I-20 there as well.
If you fail to exit I-20 at Longs Pond Road to access the Town of Lexington or its surrounding area, you will need to continue on to the Sunset Boulevard exit ramp and either go through the Town of Lexington or cross the bridge and re-enter I-20 westbound before selecting either the exit at Augusta Road or South Lake Drive, whichever is appropriate for you.
