West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – The West Columbia Police Department is in the early stages of a murder investigation. According to Assistant Chief Scott Morrison of the WCPD, this happened on North Lucas Street Tuesday, July 14, 2020.

Morrison said that when officers arrived on the scene, they found a male who had been shot. He was deceased when they arrived. Chief Morrison said at this point, he has no more information to share. He did say that investigators believe that this was an isolated incident and not a random act.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has not released the name of the victim. She will do so only after the man’s family has been fully notified.
