Summer Reading Program ends with prizes while SC Ag in the Classroom continues

Lexington, SC - This year’s Lexington County Public Library Summer Reading Program has ended. The journeys were great and the quests were bountiful. Participants spent the summer imagining their stories with faraway adventures — classic tales, mermaids, dragons, futuristic galaxies and many more. Now it’s time to enjoy the benefits and reap the rewards.

Parents can take pride in knowing they prevented their children from losing vital reading and comprehension skills over the summer months and children can enjoy their well-deserved rewards. Prizes for youth participants ages 18 and under will be available for pickup at all 10 locations through August 31.Call your local branch for days and times prizes can be picked up.

Adult summer reading participants ages 18 and up who have completed the program and logged their reading online in READsquared will automatically be entered to win prizes. Adults who have completed the paper reading logs but have not tracked their reading online can drop them off at their local branch through August 15 to be entered for a chance to win. Winners will be drawn and contacted via email or phone at the end of August.

Although summer reading is over, the library still has fun things available online. South Carolina’s Ag in the Classroom, an educational foundation sponsored by the SC Farm Bureau Federation is a sunny celebration of farming in our state. This project is made possible by a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by the South Carolina State Library. Agriculture and related agribusinesses are the number one industry in South Carolina. Visit our YouTube channel and watch the Ag Combine Simulator playlist to learn about five of our top commodities. While you’re there, don’t forget to like, share and subscribe so you’ll never miss a video.
