Brookland United Methodist Back 2 School Supply Giveaway now includes protective face shields

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Brookland United Methodist Church’s Back 2 School Supply Giveaway has now gotten even better. The church had already partnered with the West Columbia Police Department, the City of West Columbia, the West Columbia Fire Department, and 12 Springs Community Church to host a Back-2-School Giveaway on August 22, 2020, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Now, Wedge Medical of Columbia, SC has joined the partnership and they are providing free protective face shields to all students for safety if they choose to return to a face-to-face model school program this year.

These Wedge face shields cover the entire face without coming into contact with it. It comes mounted on a pair of partial eyeglasses frames and are certainly easier to use than a protective face covering like a mask or chuck. The problem of the wearer’s glass fogging over is eliminated and it isn’t as sound restrictive as other face coverings.

Currently the entire project is still in its donation phase. Donations of NEW school supplies are needed in the form of book-bags, notebook paper, pencils, crayons, glue sticks, composition notebooks, and tissues. Monetary donations will also be accepted to purchase supplies. All donations must be made by August 21, 2020.
