St. Andrews, SC (Diana Nation) – The suspect who shot two Lexington County Deputies before being injured by return fire has been identified as 27-year-old Albertus David Lewis. According to reports, Lewis is being treated for injuries sustained during the shooting and is expected to survive.

The medical outlook for both deputies involved in Sunday's shooting is very good. One was treated for a gunshot wound to the arm and released Sunday night.
The other deputy spent the night in the hospital. His vest protected him from one of the shots. A second shot struck him in his lower body. Doctors wanted to keep an eye on him due to a medication he takes for a pre-existing condition, however they are expected to discharge him today.
Sheriff Koon said he would like to thank the residents of Woodland Village who helped the injured deputies after the gunfire. “Several people immediately responded and rendered aid before EMS arrived. We are very grateful for this type of community support,” Sheriff Koon said.
Lewis is no stranger to Lexington County Deputies. They have been dispatched to his apartment six times since April, including twice Sunday afternoon. According to Sheriff Koon, the suspect was currently out on bond in connection to a 2017 Richland County homicide. Charges against Lewis related to Sunday’s incident are pending.
