Sandy Run, SC (Paul Kirby) – The members of the American Legion Riders from Sandy Run Post 156 are busily planning for a Motorcycle Show & BBQ to be held on November 14, 2020. Right now, they are in the process of trying to find sponsors that will help defray the cost of the event.
The American Legion Riders are made up of veterans and veterans’ family members who enjoy helping others and riding motorcycles. They do charity and fun rides just to enjoy some fellowship. Most of all, members contribute by working in the Legion and around their community.
The American Legion itself was started over 100 years ago as our troops were returning from WWI. The American Legion supports programs known as the four pillars. They are:
1. Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation
2. National Security
3. Americanism
4. Children & Youth
Each of these pillars encompasses a variety of programs that benefit our nation’s veterans and its service members.

Andy Powell of the post said recently that sponsoring this event would be a great way for your business or even an individual that wants to help a group of veterans and get some good exposure too. “The post will have a big stake in this by doing the organizing, the cooking, and everything else. We are definitely putting in the sweat equity. We just need some others to help financially and with the supplies. Just by making a donation, you can get your business’ name out and help us at the same time.”
Powell said the actual event will be held at Post 1485 just out of Gaston. That address is 1485 Pine Plain Road, Gaston, SC. Biker registration begins at 10:00 a.m. and more information is forthcoming about the meal and when the kickstands are up.
Andy says you can find out more about this event and how you can help by calling either Jim O’Conner at (803) 747-1260 or Andy himself at (443) 243-6772.
